What Is Esp? How does it work?

What Is Esp?

It means that Electronic Stability System. Stabil's; It has meanings such as stable-smooth-stable. Here it refers to the stable (stable) driving of the vehicle on the road. Some automobile companies have called this system ESC (Electronic Stability Control). Some Automobile companies use the name of system as VSC (Vehicle Stability Control). They are all same but the names are different.

What is ESP? And How does it work?

It will be very difficult to control and keep the vehicle on the road in cases where the vehicle has to be maneuvered suddenly due to wet-slippery road, objects suddenly appearing in front of the vehicle, drivers entering corners at excessive speed, dangerous movements of other drivers. In such cases, the vehicle will be driwen away and skid and get out of control. The ESP system activates when such a vehicle is in danger of going out of control, keeping the vehicle on the road and preventing loss of control. A separate ESP electronic control unit regulates the operation of the ESP system. While the ESP system is operating, it receives data from many sensors. These; wheel speed sensors, deviation ratio sensor, lateral acceleration sensor, steering angle sensor, which report the rotation speed of each wheel separately. Along with these, information such as vehicle speed and engine speed are transmitted to the ECU. ESP is like a secret hand that keeps the vehicle safely on the road. Works by looking at the amount of rotation of the vehicle around the vertical axis. In other words, the danger of spinning the vehicle comes into play immediately.

ESP is activated in two situations when cornering or driving fast on the road:

* Understeer (out of the bend, against the steering direction)
* Inward dive (into the bend, in the direction of the steering wheel, excessive)

What is understeer ?

It is the movement that occurs due to the loss of grip (slippage) of the front wheels while the vehicle is turning a corner.

What is İntroversion?

t is the skidding movement that occurs due to the loss of grip (slippage) of the rear wheels while the vehicle is entering a corner. When understeer or understeer occurs, ESP corrects the ride (vehicle) by momentarily applying very precise braking to each wheel. Which wheel will be braked will depend on the way the vehicle is skidding. The ESP control unit decides this based on the data from the sensors. Information from each sensor flows continuously to the ESP control unit. The ESP control unit looks at the difference between this actual data and the data that should be. If the difference exceeds the limit values, immediately intervenes. In addition to braking intervention, the ESP system controls the vehicle's fuel system, reducing/cutting the fuel sent to the engine, and downshifting if it has an automatic transmission. For some models Speed sensors in the wheels send speed information from each wheel separately. The steering angle sensor detects the position of the steering wheel, how much the driver is turning the steering wheel at that moment (how fast the turning) and sends this information to the control unit. this information, Skidding is prevented by braking the relevant wheels of the vehicle.
In some models, the ESP system can be turned off with a button. ESP system prevents drifting, skidding and sliding. ESP can be turned off to perform these maneuvers. Of course, this will leave the safety of the vehicle entirely to the driver.
